Story behind my BFA work

I just created my own website and I decided to share a little bit of my past work.

I first took a digital photography class back in 2009 with a Professor named Karen Sanders. She introduced me to the art of Social Landscape, which captures the relationship between people and a location. I always chose locations that were significant in my life.

One of the locations I shot was the neighborhood I lived in when I was attending the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. I used to ride my bike every day to school and back home. Along the way, I was able to meet some really cool neighbors.

The best location I shot was La Pulga de Alamo (the Alamo Flea Market) located in Alamo, Texas. This was the place that I grew up going to on the weekends either to sell stuff with my mom or to buy produce and watch people dance at the bailes while eating some delicious barbacoa tacos.

This work is near and dear to my heart because it portrays a little piece of my life. I hope you enjoy it.
